Hidden Lines is a bouldering app that helps you find new climbing problems on your home wall. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what choices you have.
The app asks for access to your camera or photo library so you can take or select a photo of your climbing wall. Wall photos are:
The app does not access any photos other than those you explicitly select or capture for wall setup.
By default, the app uses Apple's iCloud to sync your walls, problems, and preferences across your devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
You can disable iCloud sync in the app's settings. When disabled, all data stays on-device only.
The app uses PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics — for example, which features are used and how often. Analytics are:
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment information.
The app stores your preferences (difficulty settings, timer preferences, celebration style, etc.) locally on your device using standard iOS storage. These are never sent to any server.
If you choose to send a bug report or feedback, the app composes an email draft containing basic device information (device model, iOS version, app version) and a diagnostic log. Nothing is sent automatically — you review and send the email yourself.
Hidden Lines does not require you to create an account. There is no sign-up, no email collection, and no personal profile.
The app contains no advertising and does not track you across apps or websites.
All your climbing data (walls, problems, sessions) is stored on your device and in your iCloud account. We do not maintain a copy. If you delete the app, your local data is removed. iCloud data can be managed through your iCloud settings.
Wall photos sent for hold detection are processed in memory and discarded immediately after detection results are returned.
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
